After sell-out runs at HOME Manchester in 2016 and a hugely successful tour of UK hospitals, The Conker Group & HOME Manchester are presenting "Gutted" at the Edinburgh Fringe. The company plans to tour the work nationally in Spring 2018 so there is a high chance of further employment beyond the dates specified. We are looking for a stage manager capable of assuming a range of duties and become part of our team for our previews at HOME and our run in Edinburgh.
RE-REHEARSAL: 10th JULY - 15th JULY (HOME Manchester) TECH: 17th - 18th JULY (HOME Manchester) PREVIEW PERFORMANCES: 19th - 22nd JULY (HOME Manchester) EDINBURGH RUN: 2nd - 13th AUGUST (Pleasance Dome - note - this is a short run) ADDITIONAL MINI-TOUR TO HOSPITALS: 14th-16th AUGUST
Fee: 480pw (4 weeks in total) plus additional £150 for driving van to Edinburgh. Accom & travel paid in Edinburgh, but not in Manchester. This would therefore ideally suit a Manchester-Based SM but we're happy to accept applications from those based elsewhere if they can find their own accommodation for that period.

As a new piece of work, there may be a few changes made during the re-rehearsal week, but in essence, the show is performance ready. The show file (QLab), an up-to-date book, and a comprehensive hand-over meeting (or two or three) with our outgoing SM (who has left us due to an irresistibly long in-house engagement) will all be ready for whoever steps in, as will a video of the show to help get them up to speed. We're aware that this could be a speedy learning process and are keen to be as supportive as possible in getting our new SM integrated into the team and on board with the show's requirements.
The SM will be expected to deliver the following:
- Rehearsal room support - Editing of show file (supported by sound & video designers) - Design of super-speedy change-over plan for Edinburgh - Design of travel timing plans - Liaising with technical managers (may be assisted by production manager) - Driving of show van - Operating lighting from desk, and sound & video from QLab - Touring to two (perhaps three) hospitals to present the show there (we have a tested model for this and can share it).
There may be additional roles to be discussed.
Essential: - At least 1 year working as a professional Stage Manager - At least one previous touring experience - Experience operating Qlab (our file is very large, running both sound and multiple video cues - confidence with working with this is essential) - Strong communication skills - Problem-solving capabilities - Adaptability and a positive attitude - Clean UK driver's license
Desirable: - Experience in Edinburgh - An interest in contemporary theatre
